AH24  The Blue Lagoon & Golden Circle Afternoon All year round

Highlights:
  • The Blue Lagoon
  • Þingvellir National Park
  • Gullfoss waterfall
  • Geysir hot spring area

Tour Description:

This combination of tours AH29 The Blue Lagoon and AH11 Golden Circle Afternoon is recommended for those who don’t have much time but still want to make the most of their day.

We visit the Blue Lagoon, a unique geothermal spa situated in a lava field south of Reykjavík. Once there you have many recreational options such as walking in the Blue Lagoon’s spectacular surroundings or bathing in the milky blue-green water.

At 12:00 we continue back to Reykjavík to join our Golden Circle Afternoon tour, which leaves Reykjavík at 13:00. We start by visiting Þingvellir, a geologically remarkable place where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi was founded in the year 930 AD. The site was used for Parliament gatherings up until the 20th century, and the area is renowned for its historical significance and geological wonders.

We continue on to  the majestic and beautiful Gullfoss glacial waterfall and onwards to the incredible spouting hot springs of Geysir and Strokkur. We travel over the mountain heath Hellisheiði back to the capital.

Please note:  Entrance fee to the Blue Lagoon bathing area is not icluded in the tour price.

very good. great tour guide. i think it would be nice to know how long we are going to be on the coach for each time.especially for the time to get back to Rekjavik and the end. - Iceland Excursions: - Thank you for your comments and review. The tour AH24 Blue Lagoon & Golden Circle Afternoon tour is of 10 hour duration as indicated in the description on our home page. The stay at The Blue Lagoon is of two hours and the transfer between Reykjavik and Blue Lagoon is around 45 minutes each way. The tour in the afternoon makes up for the Golden Circle Afternoon 6 hour tour.

Your tour easily would have gotten 5 stars except that the snowy weather detracted from it and we realize that that was not your fault. As we drove to The Blue Lagoon, the snow began falling in earnest, so our time in the pool was limited as we were being pelted with ice and blowing snow. We got back to Reykjavik at exactly 1, just time to get on the bus for the second part of the tour ... thankfully we made a quick stop at a bakari and were able to get some lunch! Our tour guide, John, was terrific, however, and while we were disappointed that we didnt get to Pingvellir (roads too icy and snowy), Gullfoss waterfalls were spectacular and Stokkur was neat too. If we ever return to Iceland, which we hope to do sometime (perhaps the Spring/Summer this time?), we would definitely look to your tours again.

Thank you for your review. During the shortest days of December and January we try to make sure that the points of interest are all seen during the daylight hours. Although sunrise is around 10:30 and sunset around 16:00 the twilight or the time between dawn and sunrise as well as the time between dusk and sunset lasts much longer due to our Northern latitude.

This tour was great, the guide had a lot of interesting information and was very approachable for any extra information you might want. It all ran like clockwork and was easy to navigate and know when and where you were expected to be for drop-off's and pick-ups. The only part that was disappointing was the amount of time at the Blue Lagoon. An extra hour would have been nice to truly relax, but as the details say, it is a tour for those short of time (which I was). The other way to make the most of the Blue Lagoon is to remember some food so that you don't feel pressured to use up valuable moments in the cafe. If you only have the day and you want to see as much as possible then it is absolutely fantastic.
